Annual pumpkin, costume contests to begin Thursday, Oct. 29

Calling all ghouls and goblins! Join in the fun during MUSC's seventh annual Great Pumpkin Contest and 11th annual Halloween Costume Contest on Friday, Oct. 30.

If carving and creativity is your thing, submit an entry in the Great Pumpkin Contest. The contest begins at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, plus a booby prize will be awarded. Participants may pick up their pumpkins in the cafeteria entrance between noon and 2 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 26. Entrees will be judged on originality and creativity on carving or decorating a pumpkin. Completed entrees must be returned to the MUSC cafeteria display area (skirted tables) by Wednesday, Oct. 28. Participants do not have to be present to win.

On Friday, Oct. 30, individuals can participate in the Halloween Costume Contest, featuring the Parade of Costumes in the main dining area, MUSC cafeteria. Participants should meet in front of the gift shop no later than 12:45 p.m. to receive their assignments and instructions. Contestants will be judged on originality, personality, theme and creativity. Winners will be announced immediately.

All pumpkins and displays must be removed from the cafeteria by Friday, Oct. 30.
