Dietetic interns develop clinical competencies

MUSC’s Dietetic Internship includes more than 14 weeks devoted to developing clinical competencies used in patient care. Each intern spends at least two weeks in the Children’s Hospital learning to assess patient’s nutrition status and to develop nutrition care plans. Under the supervision of a registered dietitian, interns assess extent and type of malnutrition and the role nutrition has played. Care plans that will promote growth and improve nutrition status are developed.

MUSC’s Department of Medicine sponsors the experienced-based internship to prepare dietetic students for the registration exam and for entry-level dietetic practice.
