CHF honors supporters, new members

The MUSC Children's Hospital Fund (CHF) Advisory Board recently honored Joe Detyens and Wal-Mart/Sam's Club for their dedication to the Children's Hospital. Each year, the CHF Board had given two awards, one to an individual, and the other to a company that has displayed a sensitivity to the needs of children and have demonstrated their support through their gifts of time, resources and love.

Joe Detyens has been the moving force behind the “Fishing for Miracles” tournament for the past four years. He has given his time and energy to build a tournament that has generated more than $35,000 for the Children's Hospital Fund.

David Anderson and Barry Nelson accepted the award for Wal-Mart/Sam's Club. Anderson and Nelson are district managers for the Wal-Marts in the Charleston demographic area. In the past two years, they and their associates helped to increase Wal-Marts' fundraising from $35,000 to more than $100,000.

On hand to participate in the festivities were four new members of the Children's Hospital Fund Advisory Board. They are Francis Hegenberger, Tradd Newton, Jenny Sanford and Anne Hester Willis.
