New assignments for Medical Center's administrators

Tom Keating has been appointed administrator for MUSC’s Children’s Healthcare System (CHS). He has served the MUSC Medical Center as administrator for finance and support services since 1994 and has been employed in various administrative roles with MUSC since 1984.

“Tom’s organizational skills, breadth of knowledge concerning the healthcare industry and his experience at MUSC make him an ideal match for this challenging new assignment,” said MUSC Medical Center interim vice president for clinical operations and chief executive officer Stuart Smith.

Keating’s new assignment will include working with the leadership of the College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, the MUSC hospital, UMA Ambulatory Care and Carolina Family Care for development and implementation of an integrated children’s services delivery system throughout the clinical enterprise. He will co-chair an operations committee responsible for oversight of the CHS.

Keating will continue to report to the interim vice president for clinical operations and chief executive officer of the Medical Center, and he will maintain his current responsibilities for directing various support activities. “Keating’s financial management responsibilities will be reassigned to enable him to focus his energies upon the CHS,” Smith said.

Lisa Montgomery, who has served as the hospital controller and director of patient financial services in recent years, will be assigned additional responsibilities and assume the title of administrator for financial services. She will continue to serve as the chief compliance officer and assume overall responsibility for direction of the Medical Center’s health information services, patient financial services, finance, and managed care.

“Lisa has been highly successful in directing patient financial services at the MUSC Medical Center and brings to her new role extensive experience in hospital management,” Smith said. As a result of these new assignments and organizational change, plans are to recruit for a replacement for Montgomery’s former role.

“These organizational changes will enable us to maximize resources as we prepare for the future. Please join me in congratulating Tom and Lisa,” Smith said.
