Charleston Race for the Cure now accepting applications for program

The 1998 Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s Charleston, SC Race for the Cure® is currently accepting applications for its Community Awards Grant Program.

An estimated total of $100,000 will be awarded to organizations and individuals in the lower half of South Carolina who are working to promote the early detection of breast cancer through positive awareness, education and screening. Applications can be obtained by calling (843) 792-9186.

Applications are also available on the Charleston, SC Race for the Cure® web page at <http://hcc.musc.edu/race4cure>. To print an application from the web page, click on “Grant Program,” and then click on “1998 Grant Application.”

The deadline for grant applications is Friday, Oct. 23. A two-to-three page proposal should be submitted to Community Awards, Race for the Cure®, P.O. Box 20637, Charleston, SC 29413-0637. Funding recipients will be notified of their status by Nov. 20.

The mission of the Komen Foundation and the Charleston, SC Race for the Cure® is “to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.” Since 1995, the Charleston Race for the Cure® Community Awards Program has returned $215,000 to South Carolina communities funding vital breast cancer education, screening, early detection and treatment projects for the medically underserved.
