Director of Pharmacy Services appointed

Paul W. Bush, Pharm.D., has been named director of Pharmacy Services at MUSC. Bush will also serve as clinical assistant dean for the College of Pharmacy.

Bush comes to MUSC from St. John Health System in Detroit, Mich. where he served as chairman of the Pharmacy Management Council. He also held appointments as adjunct associate professor for Wayne State University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, and adjunct professional staff, section of Internal Medicine, St. John Hospital and Medical Center. 

Within the Michigan Pharmacists Association, Bush has held appointments as treasurer and member of the Executive Board of Directors. Most recently, Bush served as president-elect of the Michigan Society of Health System Pharmacists. 

His honors and awards include the 1992 Michigan Pharmacists Association Executive Board Merit Award, the 1990 Merck Pharmacists Recognition Award, and the 1999 Wayne State University Pharmacy Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award. He is also a member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society. 

Bush received his bachelor’s of science in pharmacy from the University of Michigan in 1978. He was awarded the doctor of pharmacy degree from Wayne State University in 1982 and received a master’s in business administration from Wayne State University in 1993. 

During his career, Bush has given more than 50 professional presentations and authored or co-authored 25 publications.
