MEDUCARE to celebrate transport day, Feb.18

by Cindy Knapp, Flight Nurse, MEDUCARE

On Feb. 18 the National Flight Nurses Association will celebrate Critical Care Transport Nurses Day. In keeping with this spirit of appreciation, MEDUCARE is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the heliport location on Courtenay Street.

During the open house, transportation will be provided from the main hospital location to the heliport. There will be display boards with information and pictures from the earliest days of transport to the present operation here at MUSC. Members of the transport crews will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will also be served.

Look for flyers in nursing units and on the MEDUCARE display boards throughout the hospital for more information. The flyers will also provide a coupon to fill out for a chance at a helicopter ride, which will be confirmed by random drawing at the end of the day.

MEDUCARE transport crews invite everyone to take a few minutes to come over for an up-close look at the ground rigs and helicopter. Learn about this special part of the Medical University, and the reason for this celebration: pride in service to MUSC and the people of the Lowcountry region.
