Gil's Grill gets facelift, gas grill, new menu

After more than five years, “The only one looking older is chef/manager Richard “Nick” Nickless,” laughs Gilbert Bradham, M.D., dean of student life. Both are proud to announce that Gil’s Grill of the Harper Student Center is currently undergoing a much needed facelift.

“Facelift” is a metaphor for a new carpet, redesigned dining area, and the big one, a new gas grill. For the first time since opening day, Gil’s is truly grilling. Along with the aesthetic changes, Chef Nick has re-invigorated the menu with new grilled items. Through the years, Gil’s Grill has gained quite a reputation of being a great place to eat a healthy meal while enjoying a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. It is a great package within a moderate price range.

Many menu selections are prepared in a manner that keeps calories and fat grams to a minimum. The pursuit of a healthy lifestyle is purely a customer decision, however. “We tell the customers what’s in it, then let them make the choices,” Chef Nick said. “As we all know, grilling is a great way to keep the fat out of your food.”

Some of the new menu items are grilled petit filets, grilled porkloin with grilled onions, grilled sirloin and many, many more. Salads will be upscaled to include chef, tropical fruit and Caesar. Every Wednesday, the grill will have a person carving a meat item on the line.
