Lose to Win participants score big bucks

Winners of the Annual Lose to Win contest are: top left photo, first place winners, Brooke Gibson, left, and Aubrey Cartwright; top right photo, second place winners, Josie Craig, left, and Kathy Elliott; and third place winners are Tim Karr and Jacquelyn Partin. The winners received a monetary prize.

The 8th Annual Lose to Win employee/student weight loss contest was a huge success this year.

More than 200 people collectively lost more than 850 pounds.

Participants teamed up with a partner and were given six weeks to lose a total of 12 pounds.

The contest included weekly nutrition and exercise classes, $1,400 in prize giveaways and $400 in prize money. The purpose of the contest was to teach participants how to lose weight responsibly: balanced nutrition based on meal planning guidelines and regular physical activity. A weekly newsletter provided extra information and motivating tips.

Do you want to be a loser too? Watch for the contest again next year.
