Loaner pagers available for extended coverage

Hospital Communications will have pagers with a service range of North and South Carolina available for loan to SIMON pager users beginning Monday, Aug. 9.

The loaner service will enable SIMON users to trade their pager in for an extended coverage pager for a day, a week, or a month while maintaining the same five-digit identification number and locally paged information.

A loaner service is recommended because the SIMON system is programmed for individuals to have full service features for only one pager at a time.

These extended coverage pagers are made available through a vendor, Radio Common Carrier. A charge will be associated with the extended coverage service.

Distribution of an extended coverage pager will be similar to the current policy for issuing SIMON pagers.

Requests to reserve can be made by an administrator, chairman, department head or the designated representative for that individual.

The associated department will be accountable for the pager and responsible for the costs incurred.  An IIT for the correct amount will accompany the request. The policy for "lost, stolen and/or damaged pagers" will be handled the same as a SIMON pager.
