Central Stores closure effective Dec. 30

The Department of Procurement, Divsion of Finance, is currently performing systematic reviews of business processes with the intent of improving productivity and eliminating cumbersome procedures that provide little added value. Therefore, by December Central Stores will be closed.

Effective Aug. 1, Central Stores will cease ordering products and redirect its efforts in the notification process to requesting departments. During this transition period, it is still required to first order existing products from Central Stores before ordering items from vendors.

After receiving notification of production outage, those items can be ordered directly from the vendor by using direct vouchers, requisitions or the purchasing card.

Central Stores will send e-mails to business managers and clinical leaderships to notify of upcoming outages. This continual e-mail update will list the following: item number; vendor name; vendor product number; unit of measure; and last known price. This communication should give each user approximately two weeks to obtain the necessary products as Central Stores depletes its products.

As usual, each requisition will be reviewed for availability of product. Once the product is determined to be out of stock, the requestor will be notified by telephone of the non-availability of a product and to order the item directly from the appropriate vendor.

Central Stores will be proactive in their notification efforts. The goal is to satisfy customers during this period.
