Haight awarded Japan Fellowship

Barbara K. Haight, DrPH., RN, FAAN, professor and senior scholar, College of Nursing, was recently awarded a short-term research fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science for research in Japan.

The fellowship is offered for 60 days beginning March 25, 2000, at Iwate Prefectoral University in the Tohoku region of northern Japan.

Haight applied for the award in January 1999 through MUSC's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. She plans to continue her research using the life review process and its effects with Alzheimer's patients and their caregivers.

This opportunity will form a rare, collaborative effort that will help explore cultural differences and provide valuable insight to geriatric care within communities.

Haight is a member of the International Society of Reminiscence and Life Review.
