Nominations accepted for honorary degrees,

distinguished faculty service awards

It's time to begin the process of selecting persons to receive honorary degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina, to be awarded at Commencement in May 2000.

In general, honorary degrees go to individuals in the following broad categories: contribution to the nation; contribution to science or contribution to the state or to MUSC.

Also, MUSC Distinguished Faculty Service Awards will be awarded at the Fall 2000 Faculty Convocation.

Distinguished Faculty Service Awards are specifically intended to recognize and honor faculty members of MUSC who, during a substantial portion of their careers, have provided exceptional and sustained service and contributions in teaching, research, health care and/or public service to the university and the citizens of South Carolina.

Consider making nominations of candidates (including supporting material such as letters, curriculum vitae, etc.) in these categories and submitting them to the Provost’s Office, room 200-H Library/Administration Building, no later than Oct. 15.

Distinguished Faculty Service Awards nominating forms are available from the Provost’s Office at 792-3031.
