Walk-a-thon slated for Sept. 18

It's time to get out the walking shoes and “strut your stuff” in the annual Carolina Children's Charity walk-a-thon known as the Strut.

The walking event, with a six-mile route for the serious walker and a three-mile route for the casual walker, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Charles Towne Landing.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the Strut beginning at 10 a.m.  Each participant must register and raise a minimum of $10.

At the end of the event each participant will be served a complimentary lunch sponsored by Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pepsi Cola and Rococo Bakery.

The charity uses the funds raised by the Strut to help Lowcountry children with birth defects and disabling diseases.

If you know of a Lowcountry family with a child who needs assistance, call the charity office. Grant applications are available at the charity office.

For information on the Strut, call Cathy Brooks at the Carolina Children's Charity office at 763-2640 or call Jane Belcher at 792-2235.
