Promissory note must be signed, returned before credit issued

According to federal regulations, promissory notes for institutional loans must be signed and returned to Student Accounting before funds can be credited to the students account and a refund check issued.

Institutional loans are: Health Professional in Medicine; Health Professional in Pharmacy; Health Professional in Dental Medicine; Health Professional in Undergraduate Nursing; Health Professional in Graduate Nursing; Federal Perkins Loans; Loans for Disadvantage Students in Medicine; Loans for Disadvantage Students in Dentistry; and EFN/FADHPS Scholarships.

During the months of June and July, Student Accounting will be mailing these promissory notes to the local address that is in the system. Make sure that your current address is updated with enrollment services before June 1.

The institutional promissory notes cover the current academic year and will list all anticipated disbursements during that year.
To ensure that refund checks are available at registration from the institutional loans, completed promissory notes must be returned to the Student Accounting Office at least two weeks before registration.

For completed promissory notes turned in at or after registration a refund check will take approximately five to seven days to process after they are received by the Student Accounting Office.

Students receiving financial aid and wanting to pay the tuition bill by credit card must pay the bill no later than two weeks before registration. Payment should be made before April 17 for the pharmacy summer 2000 registration, May 22 for the summer 2000 registration, June 22 for the third and fourth year medicine fall 2000 registration, Aug. 7 for the fall 2000 registration, and Dec. 19 for the spring 2001 registration.

Credit card payments that create a credit balance after financial aid is credited will be returned to the credit card account as a refund.
