CARE program salutes courteous employees

The Ambulatory CARES Program (Customers Always Receive Excellent Service) was started in the fall of  1999.

Zandreia Coakley, Pediatric Cardiology/ENT, standing, was recognized for helping a mother with her child get back to her car.

This program of competent care and courteous attention now begins its second phase, “Caring for Ourselves–Caring for Others.”

In this session, participants examine ways that staff attitude and staff job satisfaction affect customer service. They will identify personal and work stressors, distinguish between healthy and unhealthy coping strategies, learn tips for time management, and explore ways to work effectively with team members.

Another facet of Ambulatory CARES is the “Caught in the Act of Caring” rewards and recognition program. Participants never know when they may be spotted in the midst of a caring act with a customer and be awarded an “I CARE”  button.

These small red buttons provide immediate feedback to MUSC staff and proclaim the motto of the Ambulatory CARES Program—that “I CARE.”

Individuals who have been caught in the act of caring include: Robbi Adams, Ambulatory Care Administration; Dick Aiello, Security; Pat Aysse, Ambulatory Surgery; Ruth Baker, Quality and Staff Development; Melissa Behling, Hospital Dentistry; Bobbie Bonnet, Quality and Staff Development; Janell Boyer, Facilities Management; Eulalia Brown, Ambulatory Care Administration; Beth Burton, McClennan-Banks; Rena Butler, Orthopaedics; Sue Cammer, Ambulatory Care Administration; Zandreia Coakley, Pediatric Cardiology/ENT; June Dangerfield, Ambulatory Surgery; Chris Darnell, Ambulatory Care Administration; Glennie Davis, Patient Support Services; Diane Epps Mauney, Adult Primary Care; Sandra Esteves, 5th floor, Rutledge Tower; Brenda Falls, Ambulatory Care Administration; Joann Ferguson, Financial Services; Anne Fox, Adult Primary Care; Kerry Gasperson, Ambulatory Care Administration; Donna Gibson, Rutledge Tower Café; Sherry Gillespie Miller, Ambulatory Care Administration; Sherry Goodman, Rutledge Tower; Merelle Grant, Hollings Cancer Center; Jenna Greten, CHP/HIA Student; Susan Hamner, Quality and Staff Development; Tracy Havelka, Rutledge Tower; Marilyn Jenkins, 7th floor, Rutledge Tower; Millie Jenkins, Patient Support Services; Tammy Kabakjian, Pediatrics; Scott Kinney, Pediatric Primary Care; Sharon Mazyck, Administrative Services; Dixie McMahon, University Diagnostic Clinic; Martha Moore, Financial Services; Mary Elizabeth Morgan, Quality and Staff Development; Sandra Morrison, Registration, McClennan-Banks; David Neff, Ambulatory Care Administration; Trae Olalere, University Diagnostic Clinic; Edith Padgett, Parking Management; Juanita Peters, Ambulatory Care Administration; Terrie Pieper, Med/Surgery Subspecialities; Carol Sherman, Medicine; Katrina Simmons, Ophthalmology; Shannon Simmons, Hollings Cancer Center; Sharon Simmons, Hollings Cancer Center; Alvina Singleton, Hollings Cancer Center; Barbara Spann, Transplant; Alvin Taylor, McClennan-Banks; Ron Treiber, Rutledge Tower Maintenance; Lonnie Vendrick, Patient Support Services.
