Carnival brings in $4,000

A three-day carnival held last week in the Horseshoe raised more than $4,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network—surpassing last year’s total by more than $1,000.

The Children’s Miracle Network is affiliated with more than 170 children’s hospitals in the United States and Canada, including the MUSC Child-ren’s Hospital.

During the carnival, MUSC faculty, staff, patients and visitors enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers served by MUSC Dietary and other great foods by Sticky Fingers, Great Wall, Alice’s and Martha Lou’s.

Flavorich donated gallons of ice cream for sundaes served by MUSC celebrities.

The Homeboy Discount Band and gospel singers Rick Roberts and Debbie Farthing entertained carnivalgoers. Other special guests included Clown Nurse Ida, Charlie the Riverdog, hockey players from the South Carolina Stingrays and paramedics from MUSC’s MEDUCARE.

Participants also had the chance to show off their musical talents during Karaoke with Dan Rose and purchase “Be a Champion for Kids” T-shirts.

One hundred percent of funds generated through events like these for the Children’s Miracle Network support the MUSC Children’s Hospital.

The Children’s Miracle Network annual Weekend of Champions will be held June 3 and 4 on WCSC-TV 5.
