Lowcountry Oyster Festival raises money for HCCGreater Charleston Restaurant Association President Bob Shipley, second from left, and executive director Kathy Britizius, center, recently presented Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) with $3,500—a portion of the proceeds from the 17th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival held at Boone Hall Plantation in February.Accepting the check for Hollings Cancer Center is Mark Green, M.D., HCC director. Also pictured is Phyllis Shaffer, second from right, who coordinated the recruitment of volunteers for the Lowcountry Oyster Festival, and Tonya Pilkenton, far left, HCC director of special events. Their contribution will support research, programs and services that benefit HCC patients. Since 1995, the restaurant association has contributed a total of $21,500 to Hollings Cancer Center. The Ronald McDonald House, Youth Service Charleston and Charleston County Science Materials Resource Center also received funds raised through the Oyster Festival. The Greater Charleston Restaurant Association also supports local charities
through its annual Taste of Charleston event.
