Name:  Jim Graves

Department:  Human Resources Management.

How long at MUSC: 15 years.

Family:  Wife,  Barbara; daughter, Katherine.

Favorite movie this year:  “The Green Mile” which I saw for the first time in January.

Favorite food: Italian cuisine.

Favorite restaurant:  “Flo’s Conk Bar and Restaurant” on Little Harbour Cay, Berry Islands, Bahamas. 

Pet peeve: Vanity.

What do you like most about your job: Unlimited opportunity to help make a difference in people’s lives.

What is your biggest challenge: Building a universitywide awareness in the “Value of Training.”

Funniest thing you have seen on the job:  I’m taking the fifth on this one; next question please.

Guest to imaginary dinner party: Anne Frank.

Words that best match your personality: Liaison, quaint.

Hobbies: Cooking, fishing, and hacking at golf.

Dream vacation: Chartering with Captain Bob Murray to sail back to the Berry Islands for a week or two. First stop Little Harbour Cay.  Then fly out to the California coast to play a few rounds of golf at Pebble Beach. Next stop Canada to fish for “Walleye” in a secluded lake that can only be accessed by way of a bush pilot. 

A perfect day: A day that I am able to lend a helping hand, play a role in solving problems, and finding a parking spot on the first floor of Harbor View Tower Parking garage.

Most treasured material possession: My grandfather’s handmade carpenter’s toolbox.

Something people don’t know about you:I was one of four carpenters who built the  “Rice beds” for the tenth floor hospital Palmetto pavilion during its renovations around the mid eighties.

Words of advice:  “Kindness is a renewable resource.”
