Biweekly pay schedule to move back 1 day

If it's biweekly payday, this must be Tuesday.

For now, maybe. But soon biweekly paychecks will begin appearing on Wednesdays—an effort by MUSC's Finance and Administration  to ensure payroll is not missed, even in the face of disaster.

Payroll officials acknowledge that the one-day shift could inconvenience those whose accounts have special drafts or automatic payments with banks and other agencies, but the risk of missing payroll altogether will be greatly reduced, if not eliminated.

Pushing payday back one day:

  • Reduces the impact of feeder system failures (UMA, Kronos, Time Entry)
  • Minimizes the impact of infrastructure failures at one or more of the risk points involved in payroll processing
  • Creates a larger window of time available to run the two separate payrolls (MUSC and MUHA)
  • Provides an extra day for edits and two days to recover from any potential disaster.

MUSC Finance Department officials encourage employees whose bank drafts and payment schedules are likely to be affected by the payday change to contact their bank as soon as possible and make necessary changes. They urge all biweekly payday employees to examine their individual situations early to allow time to minimize any disruption.

Target date for the change is Oct. 4.

Any employee who anticipates a hardship associated with the change should notify the University Payroll Department at 792-7544 to arrange for assistance.

To ensure a smooth transition, MUSC and the Medical University Hospital Authority are committed to working with anyone who has concerns regarding this change.
