Meet...Jean

Name: Jean Rhodes.

Department: Outcomes management.

How long at MUSC: 11 years.

Born: In Venezuela; My father was an oil geologist.

Family: Husband Jack, English professor at The Citadel; Evan, 17, a senior at Magnet H.S. and Emma, 15, a sophmore at Magnet H.S.

Favorite book: “Still Life” by A.S. Byatt.

Favorite food: Lobster.

Favorite restaurant: The new restaurant on King street called Fish.

Pet peeve: People who are late.

What do you like most about your job: Working in Ob-Gyn and as a midwife I have the opportunity to help women in a variety of ways.

What is your biggest challenge: I worry about getting bored; I want to stay stimulated.

Guest list to your imaginary dinner party: Patrick Rafter, Ben Morrison, Dalai Lama, Sacajawea, and Maud Callen.

Hobbies: I just started an exciting project making herbal scented soaps. I make wonderful soap!

Dream vacation: I’d like to travel in Europe with my family.

Describe a perfect day: I would have breakfast then go for a walk. When I got back I would  start a batch of soap, maybe take a break and go shopping, then come back to finish the batch of soap. And to finish off a perfect day, I would go out to dinner and a movie with my husband.

Something people don’t know about you: Originally I was an art major in college and then decided to go into nursing to be a midwife.
