Rite Aid/UNCF to offer scholarships to pharmacy students

In an effort to encourage more pharmacy students to become retail pharmacists, Rite Aid drugstores, in partnership with the United Negro College Fund, is offering college scholarships to students interested in pursuing a carer in pharmacy. 

The Rite Aid/UNCF Retail Pharmacy Scholars Program offers a total of $25,000 in scholarships annually to pharmacy students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). 

Scholarships of up to $2,500 per student are awarded to those who qualify. To apply, students must be entering their sophomore year in an HBCU undergraduate pre-pharmacy program or be enrolled in their second or third professional year of pharmacy school.

Students must also demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum of 2.8 grade point average and have excellent communications skills. Students who are attending a school of pharmacy or are enrolled in a pre-pharmacy program who work in a Rite Aid drugstore will receive preference.

Scholarship applications are available through the financial aid office at MUSC. Students may also print an official application at UNCF's Web site at <http://www.uncf.org>.
