Increased fee to fund parking facility construction

The MUSC Board of Trustees last year approved a schedule of parking fees which authorized an increase in rates each year for four years. The increase in rates began July 1.

The rate increase is necessary in order to fund the construction of additional parking facilities.  In accordance with the schedule, parking rates for MUSC employees will increase effective July 1.

The rate plan, which had called for an increase in fiscal year (FY) 2002 for all reserved parking locations from $35 to $45 a month, has been modified to create a price differential between on-campus and off-campus reserved parking. On-campus parking will increase to $45 a month with off-campus parking remaining at $35 for FY 02.

Off-campus reserved parking is defined as those locations which require shuttle bus service to reach campus. These locations are Harborview Tower parking garage and Lockwood Drive parking lot.

The annual registration fee for the free Hagood commuter parking lot will increase to $20 a year. The annual registration fee for parkers new to the reserved parking system and for those enrolled in the on-campus after-hours parking program will remain at $15.

Parking fees at MUSC are a pre-tax item.

Changes in payroll deduction will be automatic, so no action is required on the part of any employee.

Questions about the rate increase or any other aspect of parking should be directed to the Office of Parking Management at 792-3665.
