Name: John Petit.

Department: Pharmacy.

How long at MUSC: 6 ½ years.

Family: Wife of 28 years, Angel; daughters, Mei Ling, 27, Mei Lan, 23 and son, James, 10.

Favorite sport to watch on TV: Football.

Favorite book: “Piercing the Darkness,” by Frank Peretti.

Favorite restaurant: Magnolia's.

Least favorite chore: Yard work.

Favorite place in the Lowcountry: Isle of Palms.

Worst habit: Snacking on ice cream.

What do you find most rewarding about your job? Helping patients get the medication they need and cannot afford. Last year, we received approximately $12.5 million worth of medicine directly from pharmaceutical companies.

What is your biggest challenge? Dealing with a huge variety of patients, symptoms and illnesses.

Accomplishment you are most proud of: Finding a fulfilling second career after 24 years in the Air Force.

What do you do in your free time? I like running and slow pitch softball.

If you suddenly had a free day, what would you do? Go and play golf with the guys!

Characteristic you admire in others: Determination—people that don't give up.

Something people don't know about you: I am a very private person - I love my grandchildren.
