Information Technology Help Desk Tip of the Week

The “Information Technology Help Desk Tip of the Week”
is a weekly feature in The Catalyst and reflects the most common problems and questions reported to the Help Desk. Watch for new tips every week.

System/Program: Trouble printing—What do I do if I can't print from a ClinLAN application?
If you can't print from an application, there are several things that you can try to fix it: (1) Go to the printer and verify the On Line button is lit. If not, press the On Line button so it lights up. (2) Verify the printer has not been set  to Offline. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Printers. Right-click the printer you are trying to use, and verify there is not a check next to Work Offline. If there is, point to that setting, and left-click to toggle it off. (3) Verify that you have a printer installed.

If, when you click Start, point to Settings, then click Printers, you do not see a printer listed, open Netscape or Internet Explorer and go to <http://www.musc.edu/ccit/clinlan/>. Click on Install a Novell Print Queue and follow the instructions.

If you have any problems while following the instructions, call the Help Desk at 792-9700.
