Conference on graduate medical education slated for Sept. 21-23

The MUSC offices of Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Continuing  Medical Education are co-sponsoring a conference on graduate medical  education in Charleston Sept. 21-23.

Entitled, “Achieving Excellence in Graduate Medical Education:  Moving Beyond the ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) Institutional Review,” the conference will be held at the Mills House Hotel.

The conference is designed to address recent changes in accreditation and regulatory requirements for GME programs. Administrators, educators and faculty who are involved in GME would be the beneficiaries of this program. It is planned to help them succeed as they attempt to maintain high-quality GME programs in the face of the budgetary constraints which are affecting virtually all institutions.

The conference will provide participants with an opportunity to about the latest ACGME requirements, a series of workshops on ways to successfully overcome some of the most difficult obstacles in GME programs and a forum to share strategies with other participants on ways to effectively manage GME programs.

For physicians, this conference is designated for a maximum of 13.5 hours in Category One credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. For other health professionals, MUSC will award 1.3 CEUs for full-time attendance.
