Quarterly AREA Award winners recognized by patrol

Each quarter, Ambulatory Care Services recognizes selected employees who demonstrate the organiza-tion’s values of Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Adaptability.  Staff members who have received an “Applause for Caring” card during the quarter are automatically eligible for the AREA Award. Third quarter AREA Award recipients are:
  • Carolyn Jamison, Med/Surg Clinics, McClennan-Banks
  • Linda W. Monroe, Hollings Cancer Center
  • Carmen J. Rice, administrative assistant, Administration
  • Jamie L. Toomer, patient representative, Family Medicine

Jamison was nominated by a registered nurse, a PCT and a clinical operations coordinator. She is described as being a “caring professional” who demonstrates “wonderful team work.”  She was also instrumental in getting the vascular clinic established at Rutledge Tower.

Monroe was nominated by a patient’s sister and by a registered nurse.  One of Monroe's nominations stated that she “always makes time to show care, compassion, and has an encouraging word and smile. She has definitely made this journey a lot easier.”

Carmen Rice displays her certificate recognizing her for “endless hours of dedication.” Helping her celebrate are Ambulatory Care administrators from left Sherry Gillespie Miller, Brenda Falls, Robbi Adams, Dave Neff, Sue Cammer and Nancy Vescovi.

Rice was nominated by two administrative assistants, a clinical care coordinator and an administrator. Monroe was recognized for her efforts in preparing for the transition of the Ambulatory Care Services employees over to the Hospital Authority, effective July 1. She is praised for her “endless hours of dedication,” as well as always being available to answer questions and steer employees in the right direction.

Toomer was nominated by a registered nurse.  She was recognized for her long-distance assistance to a Family Medicine patient who had fallen in his home. She stayed on the phone with the patient in an effort to calm him until EMS arrived.

The Ambulatory Care Prize Patrol surprised each of these individuals in her practice setting.

Each recipient received an AREA Award lapel pin, a framed certificate, a “Be My Guest” dining card in the amount of $50 and a cake to share with her coworkers.
