Meet...Julie

Name: Julie Adam.

Department: Nurse manager for hospital services coordinators, Central Staffing Office, and the House Option Pool.

How long at MUSC: 9 years.

Birth place: Keota, Iowa...a tiny little dot on the map. MUSC has more employees than the total population of the 30 miles surrounding my hometown!

Education: Currently working on my master's in nursing systems management at the College of Nursing.

Favorite TV show: Anything done by Bill Moyers or Ken Burns.

Favorite room in your house: My FROG (family room over the garage). It’s a cozy little room with all my books and music.

Favorite song/music: Blues.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: You mean besides milk for my cereal and a can opener in the drawer?

Least favorite chore: Scrubbing the bathtub.

Fondest childhood memory: I come from a huge family (by today’s standards) and we had all these great reunions.

Bad habit: Procrastination.

Your idea of a perfect vacation: No telephones, no televisions, no pagers, no crowds, no agenda.

If you could trade places with anything for a day, what would you be? I’d be a pelican. Flying over the ocean, enjoying the view, fishing when I got hungry, floating on the waves when I’m tired. What a life!

Most rewarding thing about your job: Helping to come up with a solution for “unsolvable” problems.

Personality trait you admire in others: Self-discipline, since I have next to none myself.

Three things that mean a lot to you: My mom’s china, my grandma’s prayer book, and this ratty old robe I’ve had for a  hundred years!
