Meet...Colleen

Name: Colleen Lynne Corish.

Department: Clinical Services—MUHA and the Hollings Cancer Center.

How long at MUSC: Six plus years.

City you were born: Washington D.C.

Favorite room in your house: Bedroom—it is calm, cool and peaceful and has a beach theme.

Favorite song/music: “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls and “True Companion” by Mark Cohen.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Milk.

Least favorite chore: Dusting.

Pet peeve: People who say “I don’t know” without trying to know.

Hobbies, activities in your free time: Golfing, walking on the beach, volunteering, being with my husband.

Where did you get your nursing degree: BSN at the University of Virginia; MN at Emory University.

What made you decide to go into nursing? When I was six or so, I used to read to a severely handicapped neighbor. She loved yellow so I would dress in yellow clothes and shoes and read her yellow books. I read to her until she passed away. I knew then that I would want to take care of people when I grew up.

Most rewarding thing about your job: Getting to know all of the awesome people that work at MUHA and the Hollings Cancer Center who give so much of themselves to their work and patients.

If you could trade places for a day, what would you be? A passenger on a sail boat somewhere in tropical waters, with no responsibilities!

Words of advice or favorite quote:  “Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
