MUSC parking rate increase to become effective July 1

The parking increases approved on by the April 3 President’s Council will be effective July 1.

“The rate increases are necessary in order to repair and maintain the MUSC parking system and to fund the construction of additional parking facilities,” said Office of Parking Management director Melinda Anderson.

Off campus reserved parking at Harborview Tower parking garage and the Lockwood Lot will increase from $20 a month to $25. The monthly rate for on campus parking will increase from $45 to $50.

The one time registration fee for first time parkers in the reserved system will increase from $15 to $20 and there will continue to be no charges to use the Hagood commuter system.

Changes in payroll deduction for employees paying a monthly parking fee will be automatic without the need for any individual employee action.

Hourly visitor parking will remain at $.75 per half hour, all day parking for inpatients and their families will increase from $2 to $3 and special events parking will increase from $4 to $5 a day.
