Meet...Arthur

Name: Arthur Jenkins.

Department: Payroll.

How long at MUSC: 19 years.

Family: My brother, John and sister, Kathy. I also have a cat named Precious.

Favorite TV show: The Planet’s Funniest Animals

Favorite book: The Andromeda Strain and any other science fiction books.

Favorite room in your house: The kitchen. Can’t you tell!

Favorite song/music: Traditional and contemporary Christian music, oldies rock and roll, some classical and some new age. I generally like most other types as well.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Chocolate syrup, yummy!

Fond childhood memory: Going to Brick House Plantation (part of my family’s inheritance) on Edisto Island for a week or two during most of my childhood summers.

Pet peeve: People who are intolerant, uncompassionate, unloving, untrustworthy, aggressive, argumentative, hostile, abusive and those who are generally negative.

Hobbies: Conducting children’s choir, listening to music, playing the piano (I was a virtuoso in my younger years), working on my computer at home and cooking.

Biggest challenge: Losing weight, quitting smoking, and dealing with stress.

Dream vacation: To be in a nice, inexpensive hotel, having enough money to have fun and enjoying the sights and attractions of the place I’m visiting.

Most rewarding thing about your job: Knowing and meeting lots of MUSC employees and giving the departments the paychecks for the employees and knowing that I earned a hard day’s wages. (Plus, everybody loves me on payday!)

Something people don’t know about you: I conduct children’s choir and am a music leader at two churches during vacation Bible school. I’m also the lead bass in the adult choir.
