Dear MUSC, MUHA, UMA, CFC Family Member:

Soon you will receive materials regarding the 2002 Trident United Way Campaign and how you can personally help solve our community’s most crucial and persistent challenges. We are writing you in advance to urge you to read the materials and consider contributing to this important campaign.

The United Way is the largest private supporter of health and human services in the Lowcountry. Locally, it sponsors more than 60 agencies that nurture children, increase self-sufficiency, promote healing, support older people and strengthen families. Two of those programs are the Medical University’s very own: Reach Out and Read, and the School-Based Clinic at Rivers Middle School.

Of course, we all are familiar with the important work the United Way performs during the times of disaster or emergency. However, the bulk of the United Way’s work takes place on a much quieter yet profoundly meaningful level: delivering hot meals to home-bound senior citizens, for example, or providing children with a safe place to go after school. This year, you can even designate your gift for the MUSC Health Sciences Foundation, where it can support the work taking place here on our campus.

As one of the largest employers in the Charleston area, we have a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful and enduring difference in this community through the United Way. Every year, we are so proud of our employees’ generous participation in the Trident United Way Campaign. This year, we hope that you will join us, along with your fellow MUSC/MUHA/UMA/CFC employees, in making an investment in our community and future.

Thanks for all you do on behalf of our institution and our community.

With best personal regards,
