Name: Jerome Gathers.

Department: Dietetic Services.

How long at MUSC: 13 years.

Pets: A dog, Cagney.

Favorite T.V. show: ER.

Favorite book: The Bible.

Favorite room in your house: Kitchen, because I do catering in my spare time.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Fresh garlic.

Least favorite chore: Cutting the grass.

Bad habit: Eating sweets.

Pet peeve: Seeing people goofing off while others are working.

Plans for the future: When I retire I want to help the elderly.

Hobbies, activities in your free time: I volunteer at church, lodge and in the community.

What do you like most about Charleston: The resorts.

Person you admire most: My mother.

Fondest childhood memory: I was raised in New York, and I met different people every day.

Most rewarding thing about your job: It's a pleasure to assist the patients with their meals.

What is the most unusual food request from a patient: Patients who are on special diets often crave the foods that they cannot have in their diet. So, when a patient requests an item not allowed I usually have to ask a registered dietitian before I can take the item to the patient.

Something people don't know about you: Underneath it all, I'm truly a gentle and kind person.

Your idea of a perfect vacation: A five-day cruise to the Bahamas.
