League for nursing excellence recognizes nurses, employees

The South Carolina League for Nursing recognized 20 individuals from across the state Nov. 14 Columbia at the Columbia Sheraton Hotel. 

Marilyn Brady Ph.D., R.N., president of the S.C. League for Nursing, presented awards to five MUSC nurses and employees for excellence in the areas of education, patient care, research, service to the community and dedication to nursing: 

  • Julie Adam, R.N., nurse manager of Hospital Options Pool and hospital services coordinators and staffing office, Children's Hospital
  • Carol Dobos, Ph.D., R.N., director of clinical services, Children's Services
  • Vanessa Hill,  program manager/minority liaison, Transplant Center
  • Teresa Kelechi, Ph.D., R.N., College of Nursing
  • Lanna J. Smith, R.N., lead cardiopulmonary transplant coordina-tor and adult nurse practitioner, Transplant Center
  • Laurie Zone-Smith, R.N., Special Projects, magnet program manager and doctoral student at the College of Nursing, was the recipient of the $1,000 graduate scholarship from SCNLN.
