Early registration for MUSC's Lose to Win slated for Dec. 16

It is that time of year again when Christmas trees are going up, lights are being hung, parties are starting, and losers are becoming winners.  Yes, that’s right, it is once again time for Lose to Win.

The MUSC dietetic interns are hosting this annual healthy lifestyle/weight loss program. The contest runs for six weeks beginning in January and is open to all staff, students and friends of MUSC.

Participants will receive free weekly newsletters and are offered six lunchtime classes on topics such as basic nutrition, fad diets, volumetrics, dining-out, recipe substitution, and physical activity.  Door prizes are offered weekly during classes and all participants will receive a packet containing healthy recipes, coupons, and free gym passes.

In addition, there will be drawings at the end of the contest for those participants with perfect class attendance and those who have lost at least six pounds in six weeks.

Two people have the chance to win $100 each and two others have the chance to win $75 each. Each participant is required to weigh-in and weigh-out to be eligible for the prize money.

The weigh-in will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 13 and the weigh-out will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 24.

Early registration will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Dec. 16, across from the Gourmet Coffee Shop.

Participants interested can also register prior to Jan. 13 at drop boxes located at Harper Student Center, Rutledge Tower Café, MUSC main lobby, or the MUSC Cafeteria.Registration and questions may be sent to musclosetowin@yahoo.com.

All entries received before Jan. 13 will receive $5 off of the $20 registration fee. So mark your calendars to lose your unhealthy habits, win cash and prizes, and participate in the only contest where the losers are actually the winners.
