Meet...Nan

Name: Carolyn (Nan) Abbott.

Year and school: First year, College of Graduate Studies.

City in which you were born: Cambridge, England.

Plans for the future: I hope to graduate and continue doing research in labs. I want to obtain my post doc as soon as I graduate within my field and hopefully go on to become a university professor.

Biggest challenge: Being social.

Favorite reading: Mostly fantasy and nonfiction.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Eggs.

Special place in the world: South Africa. I visited the country as an undergrad and it was beautiful.

What inspired your studies: I feel the need to help people, and that’s why I want to work in the biomedical field.

How do you stay fit: Playing ultimate frisbee and biking.

What do you do to relax from school stress: I write poetry, read, and am a member of the Charleston Community Band.

If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would you be: I would be a volunteer in the pediatrics unit because I love children.
