Intro. to WebCT 4.1 announced

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, in collaboration with the Office of the Associate Provost for Education and Student Life, announced a faculty development series focused on educational technology.

The first course in the series will be Introduction to WebCT 4.1. Taught by Thierry Bacro, Ph.D., and Mary Mauldin, Ed.D., this four-week course (two hours a week), is designed for beginning users of WebCT.

The course will address the basic skills necessary to get started in WebCT 4.1, including: how to create a course in WebCT 4.1, how to organize digital resources within this new course (lectures, powerpoint presentations, webpages, images, etc.), how to use the main tools, and how to close/clean the course at the end of each semester.

This course will not include how to set and grade online quizzes. This topic will be covered in the intermediate WebCT course during the summer semester (dates/times will be announced).

The Introduction to WebCT 4.1 class will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. March 4, 18, 25, and April 1.

If you are a faculty member interested in this course, contact Elizabeth Skipper by e-mail at skippere@musc.edu to reserve one of the 17 openings available (on a first-come, first-serve basis). Up to six openings are reserved for a staff person to be selected by the dean’s office of each college.
