McCurdy offers expertise to advanced nurse program

The Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Fellows Program is an advanced leadership program for nurses in senior executive roles, who aspire to lead and shape the United States health care system of the future. For three years, Layton McCurdy, M.D., will mentor Mary Louise White, Ph.D., R.N., director of the Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center in Boston, a member of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health affiliated with both the Harvard and Boston University Psychiatric systems.

In late April, McCurdy attended a four-day training program in Philadelphia for nurse mentors and met with White for the first time. He will mentor her in the areas of addiction treatment and mental health policy at state and federal levels. White will travel to Charleston to attend selected meetings and activities, as well as obtain exposure to McCurdy’s current roles within MUSC.
