Restaurants to support cancer awareness during June

For the second year, restaurants in Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms, and Folly Beach are participating in a culinary event to benefit MUSC's Hollings Cancer Center.

Restaurants participating in the Dining Out for Cancer Awareness event select one night in June, which is National Cancer Awareness Month, and donate a portion of the proceeds of that night's dining to the cancer center. In its second year, the fund-raiser has become successful with more than 15 restaurants participating.

Participating restaurants and the date they will host the event are: June 5—O'Charley's; June 8—Village Chop House; June 10—Long Island Cafe; June 14—Wild Wings (all three locations); June 14: Shem Creek Bar and Grill; June 14—Atlanta Bread Company on the Market; June 15—Tristan; June 16—Starfish Grille; June 21—One Eyed Parrot; June 21—Banana Cabana; and June 29— Norm's Pizza and Subs.

Long Island and O'Charley's also participated in 2003. The event is a project of Hollings' Office of Development and its Citizens Advisory Council.

For information, call Tonya Pilkenton, assistant director, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, at 792-1669.
