Meet...Batiste

Name: Angela Taylor Batiste.

Department: MUSC Public Safety.

How long at MUSC: 19 years.

City you were born: The Holy City of Charleston.

Family: Husband, Allen; sons, Demond, Allen Jr., Jabez, and Kelvin; daughters, Lanika and Kayla, five grandchildren, two brothers and a host of other relatives.

Favorite room in your house: I like the kitchen because of the warmth and the pleasing aroma of good food. 

Character trait that you admire in others: Kindness and understanding.

Pet peeve: People not giving their complete name when asked.

How do you stay fit: Recently I started exercising with some female members of my church (James Chapel AME Church).

Biggest challenge: Providing service to someone who is irate and trying to remain calm no matter what the person is saying to me. 

Something people don’t know about you: I like to spend time with the elderly and help them. 

Words of advice: The best advice I ever received came from my brother, Gen. Henry L. Taylor, who said, “Do not make any decision when you are emotionally upset or angry.”
