Employees can donate to Employee Assistance Fund

MUSC is a kind-of-family whose bonds become strengthened through the Employee Assistance Fund. Supported each year through MUSC’s Yearly Employee Support—YES—Campaign, the Employee Assistance Fund directs all of its donations, down to the penny, toward helping MUSC, MUHA, UMA and CFC (Carolina Family Care) employees and their families in need.

The fund is administered at no cost by The Salvation Army, thereby ensuring a solid wall of confidentiality remains in place. The Salvation Army interviews all applicants and requests a check from the fund made out to a third party, never to the employee. The Salvation Army also is willing to provide additional funds where necessary and can assist the employee in need with counseling, debt management and other help as necessary.

The MUSC employees who manage the fund, Kathy Turrisi and Elizabeth Nista, urge employees to donate to the YES Campaign and to designate their giving to the Employee Assistance Fund as a way for MUSC to take care of its own.

To make a donation to the YES Campaign, fill out the form on page 6 or visit http://www.musc.edu/catalyst/archive/2005/yespledgeform.htm. For information, call Kristin Romness at 792-1973.
