Name: Kristie Shanta Quarles.

Department: Rheumatology.

How long at MUSC: 1 year.

Family: Mom, Judy, Dad, Lee, and brothers, Antonio and Darien.

Favorite reading: The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah.

Favorite song or type of music: R&B, Hip-Hop and Gospel.

Memorable vacation: Road trips with my family. One that I particularly remember was to Daytona Beach.

Person you admire the most: My hardworking mother and her strong-minded and responsible qualities.

What do you like to do in your free time: Read novels.

Most rewarding thing about your job: The opportunity it has given me to learn a lot about research while working with great people.

Personality trait you admire in others: Honesty.

If you suddenly had a free day, what would you do: Spend time with loved ones.

Something people don’t know about you: I love to dance—ballet, jazz and tap dance. I am a student at the College of Charleston and take
classes there.
