Donations for MUSC Children's Hospital accepted year-round

The following information is provided as a guideline for groups or individuals interested in organizing a toy drive for the children at MUSC Children’s Hospital.
 
For questions about any of the suggestions listed below or if you would like to know the greatest needs at the time, call the child life department at 792-1294.
 
Due to patient confidentiality and infection control, donors are not allowed to deliver gifts directly to patient rooms.
 
Donations may be left at the child life atrium located in room 741 in the MUSC Children’s Hospital. Attach your name and address to your donation and remember MUSC patients includes many infants and toddlers. Avoid donating toys that have small chokeable pieces or fall apart easily. Because of MUSC's infection control policy, stuffed animals, board games and movies must be new.

Toys:       
Pop-up toys; baby gyms;     music box toys,    infant toys that light up; rattles; squeeze toys; teethers; crib mirrors; mobiles; duplo blocks; and lullaby and soft music cassette tapes; Barbies and Barbie clothes; Fisher Price medical kits; electronic games; bubbles; “Where’s Waldo” books and poster; “I Spy” books; View Masters and Slides; and new stuffed animals.       

Arts and Crafts:
       
Play Doh (Play Doh Brand); coloring books; Crayola washable markers; stickers; Elmers glue    glitter; pipe cleaners; Chenille sticks; Acrylic paints; colored pencils; and plain white T-shirts (all sizes).

Games:

Trouble; Sorry; Connect Four; Memory; Clue; Uno Checkers; and Guess Who. Games not needed are Candyland or Chutes and Ladders.

Electronics:       
Radio/cassette players; Polaroid camera and film (600 series); Gameboy; Playstation/XBox games; computer games; and DVD player (small kind).

Clothing and hand-crafts:       
Teaching dolls*; blankets and quilts (all sizes); knitted/crocheted caps for NICU babies; and cooking items (mixing bowls, spoons, measuring cups, and pans)    *Children can learn about surgery and other medical procedures by play acting the experience with a doll as a patient. Call the child life department at 792-8805 for doll pattern.
