Environmental Services' Brenda Richardson dies

Brenda Richardson, an employee with MUSC's Environmental Services since 2000, died in an automobile accident Friday, Aug. 26.

The relatives and friends of Brenda Richardson were invited to attend services on Aug. 31 in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1440 Folly Road, James Island.

Ms. Richardson is survived by her mother, Mary Richardson; daughter, Kindra Richardson; sisters, Helen Duncan (Allison); Ferald Seymour (Hasco); Martha Wilder (Michael); Glenda Washington (Donald); and twin sister Linda Wallace (Kirt); brothers, Prince Richardson Jr. (Ruth Ann); Henry Richardson (Minister Emma); Anthony Richardson (Shirley); Benjamin Richardson (Lisa); and Eurie Richardson; aunt, Isadora Richardson and a host of nieces and nephews, special friends, Oswald Johnson III and Mamie Chavis. Her remains were interred at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Brenda Richardson was a valued member of the Environmental Services Team assigned to the Children’s Hospital. I can speak for the entire department when I say she will be truly missed for a multitude of reasons. But one particular loss we all suffer is her smile. Her smile made people smile right back at her. Now there are others who get to see that smile, and it is to their gain. She’ll be missed but not forgotten.
—Dave Rivito, Director, Environmental Services

She was my best friend and I loved her dearly. We did everything together. I will miss her friendship and will always remember her in my heart. Brenda, may you rest in peace. I love you.
—Gladys Snipe, Environmental Services

Brenda worked in the Children's Hospital and was a constant fixture on the first floor of the Children's lobby. She was well known in the hospital with her smiling face. She was short, in fact she was known as half-pint, but had a big heart.
Brenda began her career with housekeeping at Rutledge Tower and transferred to the Children's Hospital two years ago. The children's pharmacy had a nickname for her as 6'2" because she did such a good job  in their area. Brenda will continue to stand tall to all who knew her and will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
—Lawrence Wiggins, Environmental Services

Brenda was a good friend and co-worker. She was a very outgoing person and well respected. I will miss her smile and her walk. She touched everyone who knew her but God knows her best. Rest in peace.
—Annette Grant, Environmental Services
