Early registration for weight loss contest to be held Dec. 14

Those six weeks-a-year when MUSC employees, students, volunteers and people in the community can turn losing into winning are here. Registration for Lose to Win begins Dec. 14.

This six-week weight loss program, sponsored by the dietetic interns, is a way to lose weight, learn about healthy habits in weekly classes and win prizes.

The contest runs from Jan. 11 to Feb. 22 with classes taught each week at MUSC with topics ranging from healthy recipe modification to grocery shopping tips.

Participants will receive a weekly newsletter full of recipes and helpful weight loss hints, a registration packet complete with coupons and freebies, a chance to win weekly prizes during class, and, of course, the big cash prize on Feb. 22.

Last year, $350 in cash prizes and freebies from Gold’s Gym, Whole Foods, and FiberOne were given away as well as great tips and information on making healthy choices.

Registration will be held from  11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and Jan. 4  in the hallway next to Starbucks, and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 10   in front of the gift shop. Also, registration forms can be dropped off in the marked boxes in the MUSC main lobby, Clinical Sciences Building entrance, cafeteria, Harper Student Center Desk;  send an e-mail to musclosetowin@yahoo.com; or a fax to 792-5432.

Mark your calendars and get excited for six weeks that will help you become healthier, lose weight, and walk away with the big cash prize. Look for information regarding the contest and registration forms in upcoming issues of The Catalyst.
