MUSC brings home awards in television, radio spots

MUSC’s Business Development & Marketing Services Department won three ADDY Awards Feb. 25 at the local ADDY Awards competition hosted by the Advertising Federation of Charleston.

The MUSC Heart & Vascular Center TV spot won two Gold ADDY Awards, one in the Local 30 second TV category and one for Use of Animation. The MUSC Hollings Cancer Center radio spot, featuring the voice of Sabra Slaughter, M.D., MUSC chief of staff, won the Bronze ADDY for 60 second Radio.

The local ADDY awards are the first of a three-tiered national competition to recognize and reward creative excellence in advertising. Gold ADDY winners advance to district and national competition coordinated by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

In addition, Business Development & Marketing Services won national awards for a TV commercial for the second year in a row. The department won three silver Telly awards, the competition’s highest honor, for the MUSC Heart & Vascular TV spot in the following categories: Local 30 second Hospital Spot (over 200 beds), Use of Animation, and Use of Graphics.

The Telly Awards is the premier national awards competition honoring outstanding TV commercials, video and film production. The competition showcases the best work of some of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate marketing departments.

Each year, the Telly Awards receives more than 12,000 entries from 50 states and some foreign countries. Past winners include Sony, HBO, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Studios, Fed Ex Corporation, Ogilvy & Mather, Young & Rubicam, Time Warner, E! Entertainment TV and BET.
