Meet...Nickie

Name: Nickie Jenkins Kopacka.

Department: OCIO-IS, formerly CCIT.

How long at MUSC: 22 years and counting.

How did you become interested in computers: I took a FORTRAN programming class in college, and I was hooked.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job: Helping people.

If you could change careers, what would you rather be doing: Something to do with flowers and plants, but not physical labor.

Family: My husband, Glenn, and son Jason, 25, who goes by Jake.

First job: Telephone solicitor.

Mac or PC: I have a Mac at home and a PC at work.

Favorite possession: Crystal suncatchers.

Favorite TV show: Stargate SG1.

Favorite room in your house: Living room with a large picture window so I can see outside.

Favorite musical group: Moody Blues.

Person you admire the most: My dad. He was a true southern gentleman.

How do you spend your free time: Outside, watering and admiring my plants.

Biggest challenge: Fighting cancer—so far I’m winning.

Words of advice: ODAT—one day at a time, and JLIG—just let it go.
