First Caring Spirit Award presented to ED physician

The MUSC Pastoral Care staff recently created The Caring Spirit Award to honor one faculty/staff member for their commitment and support.

Many were nominated by the Pastoral Care staff for this award and it was difficult to select just one. Steve Saef,M.D., Adult Emergency Medicine, is this year’s award recipient.

The annual award recognizes:
--Spiritual care of patients and families
--Support to the MUSC Pastoral Care mission
--Helps to foster community among various religiously affiliated ministers and hospital staff.
--Supportive of the theme, “Healing Faith,” for Pastoral Care Week, Oct. 21- 27.

The world of medicine, nursing and patient care is often times a work that is back dropped by the spiritual needs of patients and families. The chaplaincy staff affirms MUSC faculty and staff who ensure that the spiritual and pastoral care needs of patients and families are given the highest priority.
