Excellence team awards star employees

The MUSC Excellence Reward and Recognition Team (combination of the  Medical Center and Ambulatory Care)  selected the employees of the month for December. They were Tracy Burgess, IOP Star Ladson program; Debbie Webb from RT Transplant and Nephrology Clinic; and Nancy Jackson from Physical Therapy. Each winner received a large framed Applause certificate, a balloon and a mall gift certificate.

Nominations can be submitted at http://www.itlab.musc.edu/cgi-bin/applause/add/add.cgi.

  • Tracy Burgess: Burgess was nominated by Cynthia Plutro. The nomination read in part: “Tracy goes above and beyond in all areas of her job performance, but the reason for this applause is due to the fact that Tracy  obtained from different community resources Christmas gifts for the children in the Star day treatment program in Ladson. Many of the children in this program come from disadvantaged homes and many will not have any gifts to open. Tracy, in her personal time, contacted community agencies and had gifts donated to the children. She also picked up the gifts, provided the wrapping paper and then also proceeded to wrap them.”
  • Debbie Webb: Web was nominated by Lee Ann Reigault and Lisa Sibbald. The nomination read in part: “Debbie was on her way to a meeting on a cold, windy day when she passed a patient who was sitting on the sidewalk. He was waiting for his family to pick him up who was coming from Anderson. When  she passed him again, Debbie  asked him why was he  still there. The man replied ‘my wife’s car broke down, but they should be here soon.’ Right on cue the wife drove up with Public Safety. They did not have room in the trunk for all his stuff and said they would take his wife and son to the hotel and then come back for the patient. Debbie volunteered to take the patient and his belongings to the hotel.
  • Nancy Jackson: Jackson was nominated by Michael Townsend. The nomination read: ”Nancy went out and purchased almost $100 worth of clothing and toiletries for an underfunded Transitional Care Unit  patient.”
