Association challenges knowledge of history

In recognition of Black History Month, the Student National Pharmaceutical Association presents a weekly question about African-Americans in health care.

To participate in the weekly prize drawing, submit answers to this week’s question at http://trivia.snphamusc.com.

Here is last week’s question and answer:
What is the name of the city and state where the first black pharmacist is from?
Charleston. Wilcie Elfe is the earliest known pharmacist.  He graduated from the Avery Normal Institute in Charleston.  Elfe worked at People's Pharmacy, and his prescription logbook dates back to 1853.

This is the Student National Pharmaceutical Association's (SNPhA) final trivia question and answer for this year's Trivia Bowl. Thank you to the following local businesses for donating Trivia Bowl prizes:  Wild Wings Cafe in North Charleston, Java on Calhoun Street, Regal Cinemas in North Charleston, and Hominy Grill on Rutledge Avenue.  SNPhA would also like to thank everyone who took time to participate in the African-American History Month Trivia Bowl.
